What kind of game it is
Phantom Blade Zero is a wuxia action RPG, built on the Chinese storytelling tradition that mixes martial arts with fantasy. You play Soul, an assassin framed for a murder by the organization he works for, trying to clear his name, per GamesRadar+. The big draw is fast, martial arts-heavy combat in a gorgeous, dark take on historical China. Critics loved it, as our Phantom Blade Zero review roundup shows.

OnPoint’s take: Four million in three days for a brand new action RPG is crazy, and an 822K peak on Steam shows how much of that party is happening on PC. That is a number most AAA games never touch. This is what happens when a game looks stunning, plays fast and reviews well: players show up, period. The PC audience is massive right now, and that’s good news for everyone who plays on Windows. Big new action games are finding their crowd on PC fast, and we’re here for it.
