Electronic Arts cracked open a physical media vault, digitized about 2,500 hours of archival footage and put 25 classics on Steam. Seven Anniversary Editions get modern QoL and restored FMVs. Here's the full list, prices and what actually changed.
Electronic Arts just put 25 classic PC games on Steam, and they’re live today, Thursday, November 5, 2026, on Steam, GOG and the EA App. The wave covers Ultima, Wing Commander, Road Rash, Theme Hospital, Crusader and more.
Seven of them are full Anniversary Editions with quality-of-life updates and restored full-motion video pulled from original master tapes. The other 18 are faithful ports for players who want the old experience on modern storefronts.
Per EA’s announcement, this whole project started when Senior Producer Jim Vessella found a physical media vault at EA’s Redwood Shores campus in March 2022. The room held almost 20,000 archival assets. The team digitized an estimated 2,500 hours of historical footage from those tapes.

The seven Anniversary Editions
These are the ones EA rebuilt for modern PCs. Per EA, they keep “the original look, feel and creative intent” while adding modern support:
- Road Rash: 30th Anniversary Edition (first digital release of the 1996 PC version). Relicensed soundtrack (Soundgarden, Paw, Hammerbox, Monster Magnet, Swervedriver, Therapy?), restored FMVs, up to 60 FPS, native controller support, windowed mode, cloud saves.
- Wing Commander: 35th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi: 35th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander Prophecy: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Privateer 2: The Darkening: 30th Anniversary Edition
On Wing Commander III, IV, Prophecy, Privateer 2 and Road Rash, EA says Source Master tapes were digitized and re-edited frame by frame. Optional upscaled FMVs are in the mix. Community enhancement patches (60 FPS, better controller and joystick support, widescreen cockpit options and more) are bundled into the official releases. Wing Commander and Wing Commander II also ship with Kilrathi Saga features and community Wcdx / WCAT patches, per EA.
Privateer 2 also gets a Director’s Cut FMV pass from the original cinematics director, plus restored scenes starring Clive Owen, John Hurt and Christopher Walken.
The other 18 classics
These are the faithful ports EA lists for players who want the original trip:
- Wing Commander: Privateer
- Wing Commander: Academy
- Wing Commander: Armada
- Strike Commander
- Theme Hospital
- Crusader: No Remorse
- Crusader: No Regret
- Ultima I: The First Age of Darkness

- Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny
- Ultima VI: The False Prophet

That’s the entire classic Ultima run plus both Underworld games, landing on Steam in one shot. Theme Hospital and the Crusader pair are in there too.
How it works if you already own them
- Check GOG or the EA App for your old Wing Commander ownership.
- Per EA, Anniversary Edition upgrades for those Wing Commander titles land free on the platform you already own.
- New buyers can pick singles at the SRPs above, or grab the launch special pricing on Steam and GOG through November 19.
- Install on your PC (or a handheld that runs Steam / EA App / GOG) and you’re in.

OnPoint’s take: This is a straight-up PC preservation W. EA found a vault full of master tapes, spent years digitizing them and then shipped Ultima, Theme Hospital, Road Rash and Wing Commander onto Steam with real QoL instead of another abandonware shrug. For Xbox fans who live on PC, Steam Deck and Windows handhelds, this is the kind of library drop that actually matters. Boot Theme Hospital or Ultima Underworld this weekend and thank the community mods that finally got baked into an official release. Let me know in the comments which one you’re loading first.
