IO Interactive's free Starter Pack for 007 First Light is live on Xbox Series X|S and Steam. It covers the opening Iceland mission, no subscription needed, and your progress carries into the full game.
If you have been on the fence about the new James Bond game from the Hitman studio, you can now try the start of it for nothing. IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios announced on November 5, 2026 that the 007 First Light Free Starter Pack is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.
What you get
- The opening mission in Iceland. The Xbox Store listing says you can “experience the opening chapter in Iceland, and discover the beginnings of this re-imagined origin story of James Bond.” Press coverage lists the mission as “Against the Odds,” and VGC says it should take about an hour to beat.
- Your progress carries over. IO Interactive says progress made in the Starter Pack “will carry over into the full game upon purchase, allowing players to continue their journey where they left off.”
- Xbox details. The free pack is listed in the Xbox Store as “007 First Light – Free Starter Pack,” released November 4, 2026 per the listing, rated Teen, optimized for Xbox Series X|S, 4K Ultra HD capable, single player, and supports Xbox Play Anywhere (Xbox Series X|S and PC).
- Upgrade path. If you already finished the pack, the full version unlocks “the entire Story, Challenges, and Tactical Simulations mode,” per the Xbox Store.

How PS5 is handled
This is where the platforms split. Per IO Interactive’s announcement, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers get a one-hour Timed Trial now, and the free Starter Pack comes to PS5 on November 10. VGC described the PS5 situation at launch as locked behind PlayStation Plus Premium. Push Square confirms the PS5 Starter Pack lands November 10 and covers the same first mission.
So on Xbox and PC, everyone can play today. On PS5, you either pay for Premium or wait five days.
OnPoint’s take: Free is free, and Xbox and PC players got it first with no strings. That is a nice little W for anyone who wanted to see if the new Bond game clicks before spending money. On PS5, the people without Premium are sitting on their hands until Tuesday while Xbox players are already in Iceland. If you are on PlayStation and tired of waiting, our door is open.
