Remedy Entertainment published its January to September 2026 business review this morning (2:00 AM ET, November 3), and it’s the first real look at what CONTROL Resonant did for the studio. The game launched digitally on September 24 across all platforms, including Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it passed one million copies sold on October 15, the day the physical edition hit stores, three weeks after launch. Remedy calls it the fastest-selling game in its history.

The key numbers (July to September 2026)

  • Revenue: EUR 39.6 million, up 226% from EUR 12.2 million a year ago.
  • Game sales and royalties: EUR 35.3 million (was EUR 6.0 million).
  • EBITDA: EUR 6.8 million (was EUR 0.7 million).
  • Operating profit (EBIT): EUR 0.6 million, up from a loss of EUR 16.4 million.
  • Cash flow from operations: EUR -0.1 million (was EUR 11.3 million), as marketing spend peaked around launch.
  • Only one week of launch sales counted: the quarter includes preorders and just the first 7 days of sales, since the game came out September 24.
  • Outlook for 2026 (unchanged): Remedy expects full-year revenue and EBITDA to grow over 2025.

What you need to know

Where it sold

  • The United States was the biggest market on both PC and console, by revenue and by units, “accounting for nearly half of all sales,” per Remedy.
  • On PC, Chinese-speaking regions ranked second and the United Kingdom third.
  • On console, the U.S. was followed by the United Kingdom and Canada. By console units, Brazil also cracked the top three.

New players and what’s still waiting

  • Close to 50% of players were new to CONTROL, based on Remedy’s analytics.
  • 2.4 million outstanding wishlists are still sitting there, which Remedy calls “a substantial potential audience for the future.”

How players and critics rated it

  • Metacritic: 83 critic score, 8.8/10 user score.
  • Steam: 91% positive user rating.
  • Ratings are as of November 2, 2026 data, per Remedy.

The PC angle

Remedy specifically called out how well CONTROL Resonant runs across PC setups. CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon wrote that the studio is “pleased with the game’s technical performance and the positive commentary over its scalability across a variety of PC hardware,” and credited its in-house Northlight engine. Remedy also says NVIDIA was one of its launch marketing partners.

What else Remedy is working on

  • CONTROL Resonant: post-launch development.
  • New project (Remedy-published): production readiness.
  • Max Payne 1&2 remake (published by Rockstar Games): full production.
  • Alan Wake 2 had a quieter quarter, and its development costs are now fully written down.
  • FBC: Firebreak is still on sale, with most of its revenue now coming from subscription service deals.

What Remedy said

Gaudechon called the launch “a defining milestone for the company” and said “with the sequel we have now established CONTROL as a true franchise.” On what comes next: “Sales over the remainder of the year will ultimately define our financial year 2026. CONTROL Resonant gives us a solid foundation for growth.”

Remedy also noted this is its “first self-published game of this scale,” built on its own IP. As a self-publisher it pays platform fees and Annapurna’s royalty share directly, and Remedy says that royalty cost drops once the initial investment is paid back.

Context

A year ago, Remedy posted an operating loss of EUR 16.4 million for Q3 2025. This quarter it posted a profit, with only the preorders and first week of CONTROL Resonant sales counted. Remedy says FBC: Firebreak, in its second year, now brings in less than it did earlier in its life. Analyst firm Inderes, which follows the stock, kept its full-year estimate of 1.9 million copies for the game and said sales are now weighted more toward Q4 because physical copies only arrived October 15.

OnPoint’s take: This is a W for single-player games and a W for PC. Remedy bet on a bigger, action RPG take on CONTROL, published it themselves, and it paid off in one week of counted sales. The part people aren’t talking about: nearly half of all buyers were in the U.S., half the players are brand new to the series, and Remedy is bragging about how well it scales on PC hardware. That’s the recipe. Make it run great on PC, make it look stunning, and people show up. If you’re an Xbox or PC player who skipped it, 2.4 million wishlists say you’re not alone, and that Q4 number is going to be big.
