Rumor. French content creator j0nathan says Ubisoft has two unannounced Assassin’s Creed projects in development. Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson covered the claim on Saturday, November 7, and says Insider Gaming has also heard the codenames, but has not been able to verify the claims to its standards for a report. Ubisoft has not commented. Treat everything below as unconfirmed.

What is being claimed

  • Codename Mars: a new Assassin’s Creed game set in Ancient Rome, per j0nathan.
  • Codename Pocket: a mobile Assassin’s Creed game set in Jerusalem, per j0nathan.
  • Where it came from: j0nathan named Codename Mars in a French-language YouTube video and X post on Friday, November 6. On September 2 he had teased that he could share the codename of a new Assassin’s Creed project.
  • His sourcing: per Insider Gaming, j0nathan says two sources with access to Ubisoft’s backend systems corroborated the information. Insider Gaming describes him as having previously shown he has sources at Ubisoft.
  • TV link: j0nathan believes the Rome setting likely ties in with the Assassin’s Creed live-action series in some capacity, per Insider Gaming. That is his speculation, not a reported fact.
  • Platforms and timing: none have been announced. There is no title, platform list or release window for either project.

What Ubisoft has actually said

In its official Fall 2026 Assassin’s Creed update on October 29, Ubisoft’s head of content Jean Guesdon said Codename Hexe, the next single-player game, is “making steady progress,” and “we’ll share our next major update in 2027.” Ubisoft also said multiplayer project Codename Invictus is “evolving” after player feedback, and that its teams are focused on “projects you haven’t heard about yet, featuring new settings and stories.” Ubisoft did not name any of those projects.

What is still unconfirmed

  • Hexe delay: Insider Gaming says its sources told it in October that Hexe has had issues and was internally delayed by another year, likely to 2028. Ubisoft has not confirmed any delay.
  • When we might hear about Mars: Insider Gaming speculates that if Mars makes it further into production, we likely won’t hear about it until 2029 or 2030. That is an outlet’s estimate, not a Ubisoft schedule.
  • Studio turbulence: Insider Gaming says the franchise has been through turbulence since the departure of Marc-Alexis Côté, which makes it harder to know what is happening inside the series. As Henderson put it, “nothing is certain at Ubisoft anyway.”

OnPoint’s take: Rome is the setting a lot of Assassin’s Creed fans have asked for since Brotherhood, so it is easy to see why this one is moving fast. But this is a codename and a setting from one creator, with Insider Gaming saying it heard the names and could not confirm the rest. Ubisoft’s only official word is that Hexe news comes in 2027 and that unannounced projects with new settings exist. Keep Mars filed under rumor until Ubisoft says otherwise.
