Photos of what appears to be a German-language PS5 code-in-box copy of GTA VI list "230 GB Minimum" and new screenshots. Rockstar has not commented, and the photos are unverified.
Rumor. Photos of what appears to be a German-language PS5 retail box for Grand Theft Auto VI began circulating on X on Saturday morning, November 7. Rockstar has not commented, and OnPoint 4 Gamers could not authenticate the photos. Treat everything printed on this box as unconfirmed until Rockstar or a retailer says otherwise.
What the photos show
The images, shared by fan account @gta_insides (which credits Reddit and says “not an official Rockstar post yet”), show:
- Front: the familiar GTA VI collage cover, a USK 18 rating and the line “Spiel-Downloadcode. Keine Disc enthalten.” (“Game download code. No disc included.”)
- Back: three gameplay-style screenshots, including a seaplane over the water, plus feature icons reading “1 Spieler”, “Online-Funktionen”, “230 GB Minimum” and “PS5 Pro Optimiert”. The small print says the product is licensed for sale in Europe.
230 GB on the box vs 212 GB from Rockstar
Rockstar said the preload needs up to 212 GB “depending on your device” (reported by The Verge, Nov 3). The 230 GB figure on the alleged box is a storage requirement printed on packaging, not a download size, and the photos only show a PS5 box. Nothing here confirms a bigger download or a different number for Xbox. The safe move is simple: check your existing free space before preload opens.
What is confirmed about the boxed version
- Rockstar confirmed in June that physical copies contain a download code, not a disc (Polygon).
- Best Buy’s Xbox Series X|S code-in-box listing says it ships November 12, is playable November 19, and “will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load starting on November 12. A disc will not be included in the box.”
- Digital preload opens November 10: 12 AM local time on PS5, and 12 AM GMT on Xbox Series X|S (7 PM ET on Monday, November 9). Full times are in our GTA 6 preload guide.
- A boxed copy does not unlock the game early. Everyone plays on November 19.
The poster
Fan site iGrandTheftAuto says MediaMarkt and Saturn are including a double-sided poster with the physical copy, with the cover art on one side and the cover woman on the other. It adds that it is unclear whether this is an official Rockstar design or a retailer extra. OnPoint 4 Gamers has not seen the retailer listing itself, so treat it as a German retailer offer, not a worldwide bonus.
If that 230 GB label is real, how does it hit you?

OnPoint’s take: A code in a box with a bigger number printed on the back is exactly the kind of thing that sends people into a panic. Rockstar’s own figure is 212 GB. Until Rockstar addresses the box, check your space, keep your preload plan and ignore anyone calling this a confirmed size bump.
