Xbox UK Listed WoW: Forever as an Xbox Game, Then Deleted It Fast. Here’s What They Said

Two days before World of Warcraft: Forever launches, the official Xbox UK account put it in a "coming to XBOX in November" post, pulled it, and called it a mistake. Here's exactly what happened, what Xbox UK said, what is and isn't confirmed, and why WoW on Xbox talk won't die.

The official Xbox UK account just added fuel to the WoW on Xbox fire. On Sunday, November 1, Xbox UK posted a list of games coming to Xbox in November, and World of Warcraft: Forever was in it. The post came down fast, and Xbox UK told fans it was “our mistake,” since Forever is a PC and Mac game on Battle.net.

To be clear up top: there is no Xbox version of World of Warcraft announced. Xbox UK’s own answer says it’s not coming to Xbox. But this lands right after Blizzard’s WoW boss name-dropped Project Helix, and two days before Forever launches with full controller support, so fans are reading into it.

Xbox UK says WoW: Forever on Xbox was a mistake. The internet isn’t buying it that easily.

What happened

  • The post: Per Windows Central, Xbox UK’s X account posted “Don’t forget to leave some space for these games coming to Xbox this November” with images including Shrek 2: Remastered and World of Warcraft: Forever.
  • Who spotted it: The deleted post blew up on Reddit after u/hazedesunna shared it, according to Windows Central.
  • The fix: Xbox UK deleted it and reposted the November lineup at 6:30 AM ET on November 1 with the caption “Don’t forget to leave some space for these games coming to XBOX in November ✨”. That reposted version is still up.
  • The explanation: Around 6:48 AM ET, Xbox UK started replying to fans who asked about it.

What Xbox UK said

Xbox UK sent the same reply to several fans asking why the post vanished:

“Hi there, this post was deleted as World of Warcraft: Forever will be available on PC and Mac via Battle.Net, and is not available on XBOX. This was our mistake so we needed to remove it and repost. We apologies for the confusion this may have caused.”

(Quoted exactly as posted, typo included.)

What’s confirmed and what isn’t

  • Confirmed: Xbox UK listed WoW: Forever in a “coming to Xbox” post, deleted it and said it was a mistake.
  • Confirmed: Officially, Forever is PC and Mac only through Battle.net, and Xbox UK says it is not available on Xbox.
  • Not confirmed: Any Xbox console version of World of Warcraft. That part is fan speculation.

Why the WoW on Xbox talk keeps coming back

This isn’t coming out of nowhere. Last week (Oct 29), WoW executive producer Holly Longdale told GamesRadar+ the goal is to play WoW “wherever you want and, at some point, on whatever you want,” called controller support “the first leg of that journey,” and brought up Project Helix by name. We broke all of that down in our main story.

Windows Central’s Alexander Cope also points to earlier chatter, including Brazilian rating classifications, and the fact that Forever ships with full Xbox controller support. His read: “At face value, this was a genuine mistake on Xbox UK’s part.” Windows Central Gaming summed it up on X as a slip that’s “already fuelling fresh speculation about a future console version.”

WoW: Forever launch details, quick hits

  • Launch: Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 6:00 PM ET, worldwide.
  • Platforms: Windows PC and Mac through Battle.net.
  • Cost: Included with an active WoW subscription or Game Time ($14.99 for one month in the US Battle.net Shop). Not free to play.
  • Controller: Official gamepad interface with Xbox controller support, listed by Blizzard as in beta at launch.

OnPoint’s take: Take Xbox UK at its word: today, WoW: Forever is a PC game, and if you’re on PC, Wednesday night with an Xbox controller is the play. But real talk, look at the pattern. Blizzard is Xbox’s own studio, it built Forever to play great on a pad, its WoW boss said “Project Helix” out loud last week, and now an official Xbox account had it on a console lineup graphic. A social media slip is not an announcement, and we’re not calling it one. What we are saying is that WoW on Helix makes a ton of sense, and the dots keep lining up. If it happens, that’s a gigantic W for Xbox.
